1. How to Get All Three Warp Whistles (Level Skips)
Warp Whistle #1:
Go to World 1-3. Near the end, find the white block before the black music note block. Jump onto it and hold Down on the D-pad for about 5 seconds. Mario will fall behind the scenery. Run right, behind the scenery, past the black music note block, and go into the exit. You’ll enter a Toad House with a Warp Whistle.
Warp Whistle #2:
Go to the first Fortress in World 1. You need a Super Leaf to become Raccoon Mario. Go to the end of the first room, then fly up and right over the ceiling above the door. Run to the right, past the wall, and enter the hidden door. You’ll find a chest with a Warp Whistle.
Warp Whistle #3:
In World 2, defeat the Hammer Bro to get the Hammer item. On the World 2 map, use the Hammer on the rock in the upper right area of the map. This opens a path to a Fire Bro. Defeat the Fire Bro for the third Warp Whistle.
2. White Mushroom Houses (Secret Toad Houses)
How it works: On certain levels, if you collect a set number of coins, a white Toad House appears on the map when you finish the level. Inside, you get a rare item (P-Wing or Anchor).
Coin requirements:
World 1-4: Get all 44 coins.
World 2-2: Get all 30 coins.
World 3-8: Get all 44 coins.
World 4-2: Get all 22 coins.
World 5-5: Get all 28 coins.
World 6-7: Get all 78 coins.
World 7-2: Get all 46 coins.
3. Kuribo’s Shoe
Only found in World 5-3. Defeat the Goomba wearing the green boot (Kuribo’s Shoe) by bumping it from below or with a fireball. Jump on top of the empty shoe to ride in it for the rest of the level. Lets you stomp on enemies and hazards like Piranha Plants and Spinies.
4. Always Get a Star Card at Level End
At the end of most levels, when you hit the spinning card, if you run at full speed and jump at the very bottom left corner of the card, you will always get a Star card.
5. Infinite Lives Trick
World 1-2 or World 3-9. Find a Koopa Troopa on a staircase. Kick its shell so it bounces back and forth between two blocks at the bottom of the stairs. Jump and repeatedly land on the shell for 1-Ups. You must keep bouncing to continue earning lives.
6. P-Wing Skip
Use a P-Wing (grants infinite flight for one level) in any standard level or airship. Fly over obstacles, enemies, or even most of the level (for example, World 8’s tank stage).
7. Tanooki Statue Invincibility
With the Tanooki Suit, press Down + B to turn into a statue. While a statue, Mario is invincible to almost all enemies and projectiles. Lasts a few seconds.
8. Hammer Item to Reveal Map Secrets
Use the Hammer item on the world map:
In World 2: Use it on the top right rock to access a Toad House and Fire Bro (who gives the third Warp Whistle).
In World 6: Use the Hammer on rocks to access shortcuts and hidden Toad Houses.
9. Coin Ship (Secret Bonus Stage)
To make a Coin Ship appear:
Finish a level with your coin total ending in a multiple of 11 (like 44, 55, 66, etc.).
The tens and ones digit of your score must be the same (for example, xxx,550).
The last digit of your timer must match the digits above (if coins and score end in 77, timer must end in 7).
If all conditions are met, the next wandering Hammer Bro on the map will become a Coin Ship.
10. White Block Background Skip
On certain white blocks, crouch for 5 seconds to fall behind the scenery. While behind, run to the end of the level or find hidden warp zones (as in World 1-3).
11. Anchor Item
Defeat the wandering Hammer Bro in World 5, 6, or 7 for a chance to get the Anchor. This item prevents the Koopa Kids' airships from moving on the map if you lose a boss fight.
12. Quick Power-Up Inventory
Enter a level, grab a power-up, pause and select “Exit,” or intentionally lose a life; the power-up will be added to your item inventory, letting you stockpile rare items.
13. N-Spade Card Match Mini-Game
Every time you collect 80,000 points (increments per appearance), the N-Spade card matching mini-game appears on the world map, letting you win power-ups and 1-Ups.
14. Transform Hammer Bros.
Sometimes, if you finish a level or trigger certain events, Hammer Bros. may change to other forms (Fire Bro, Boomerang Bro, etc.) and drop different items.
15. World 8 Airship Skip
In World 8’s first battleship stage, after passing the first part, fall into the water and swim beneath the ship to skip most of the stage and climb up at the end.
