Grand Theft Auto VI may be one of the most anticipated video games in history, but its publisher still refuses to say how much it will cost. During Take-Two Interactive’s August 7 quarterly earnings call and follow-up interviews, CEO Strauss Zelnick avoided giving a direct answer when pressed about the price of next year’s blockbuster.
Industry rumors have ranged from a steep $100 price tag to a more standard $70–$80, but Zelnick stuck to talking points about “delivering more value than we charge” and offering “variable pricing” across editions. In an interview with Variety, he sidestepped the question entirely, emphasizing fair pricing and a great player experience without naming a figure.
The ambiguity mirrors industry uncertainty. Nintendo has raised prices on some titles to $80, while Microsoft and EA have largely stayed at $70. Analysts say if any game could push the ceiling higher, it’s GTA 6. Take-Two has already confirmed a $70 price for Borderlands 4, but Zelnick again avoided specifics when asked why.
With GTA 6 set to release May 26, 2026, speculation is likely to continue. Some predict standard editions will stay under $80, with premium bundles pushing past $100. For now, fans will have to wait to find out if this virtual crime spree comes with a record-breaking price tag.
